There are three things we talk about here, religion, philosophy, and science. And I keep wondering how people are willing to accept something provided it's proved scientifically. Is science not dependent on the fact that we humans seem to some how have placed just as much faith in the logic of science as we have in religion? And why should one look at the whole concept of God, God's existence from a scientific point of view at all? Aren't scientists being narrow minded when they refuse to look at the concept of God from any other point of view other than science?

Just like science, I believe religion is a part of humans. Whether one chooses to accept any one of them is individual choice. There is a huge difference in religion and blind faith, that's the first thing we need to learn to discern.

Atlantean,
you are too optimistic about religion and science getting along with a little give and take.
They are fundamentally opposed at root- the root of religion is faith and that of science is reason, polar opposites. It will always be one or the other and any coexistence will be and is uneasy and tense.

1)Science evolves. Theories can be disproved. Once rejected theories are some times being accepted at a latter stage. Then how can we ask science to certify riligion when the science itself is not a standard one? Today science may say some thing is non-sense. But after some years (may be 100 or 1000) the same non-sense may make sense.
2)Dont generalize Hinduism. It has never been a religion. And there are actually no specific set of rules of conduct or some penal code for hindus.
You cant actually comment on hinduism as such. Hinduism in itself is a very diversified and complex thing. Its more a philosophy than a religion.
There are Advita, Dvita, Visistadvita and many more philosophies in hinduism and all of them are accepted and are bieng followed till date.

>> Here’s a man who was an exceptional human being

just curious. what was exceptional about Ram? unless you want to claim that he was a reasonably okay person in barbarian times, 'exceptional' is surely an exaggeration. To me today's average arun on the street has better morals than Ram supposedly had.
