Close to 200 innocent, hardworking, spirited Mumbaikars have lost their lives to satisfy the evil ideologies of a group of misguided, maniacal, barbarian, bloodthirsty individuals. As if to sum up my feelings of bewilderment, apart from frustration, someone said in the blogosphere, “And for some reason, some people on this planet love all that has happened”. Either this or something to this effect.

I might be getting ahead here but we dont need the government and the intelligence establishment to tell us who did it, do we? From common sense, history and judging by the modus operandi and the sophistication of the attacks, we all know who did it, dont we?

So where are all the mullahs now? Some Muslims also lost their lives. How come I dont see any mullah declaring a fatwa placing a price on the heads of all those who committed these dastardly acts, in the name of their Religion of Peace? Is Sania Mirza wearing skirts somehow more important than close to 200 innocent civilians losing their lives? Is Salman Rushdie writing a book somehow more criminal than taking 200 innocent lives in the bloodiest fashion?

Is the silence of the mullahs and the Muslim “mainstream” a silent approval to whatever is happening in the name of Islam?

Update:

A dear friend of mine has pointed out that a fatwa is issued when Islamic jurisprudence is in question. Since it needs no jurisprudence to decide whether bombings are bad, it makes no sense to ask the mullahs to issue fatwas. I admit I was ignorant about that. It was just a steam release and nothing else.

Also, I’m not blaming the mullahs or the Muslim “mainstream” for the bombings. These attacks were aimed at the nation as a whole and not on a particular religion.
