Reservation is evil, goddamned evil! Or, to plagiarize (hey, I’m an unmeritorious Indian! how can I be creative?) the words of a few enlightened individuals, reservation is “obnoxious, nazist, vampire”. How, I mean, how the fuck did reservations get implemented in the first place?! Who came up with this “obnoxious, nazist, vampire” idea? Darn it man, I cant believe I’ve been living in this country all along!
All those ignorant, irrational, narrowminded, bigoted, umeritorious bastards who have been arguing for reservations should be punished in concentration camps. Their presence has polluted the intellectual atmosphere of this country already! Gasp! I’m suffocated! They must be bloody gassed, their throats must be slit and boiling water must be poured in them. Their unmeritorious fingers must be chopped off, en masse. I guess two hands at a time will be quick enough. The sooner they are rid off this planet, the better. They must be fed grass. They dont deserve more. They’re not meritorious enough to eat anything better. Chi! Even oxen and cows are better. Atleast oxen help us work in the field. Atleast cows can give us milk and contribute to human society. But these backward classes people?! Chi! Dont even ask!
Their eyes must be gouged out. They are not meritorious enough to see things. They must be banned from viewing movies. I mean, how the fuck can a backward class man watch such a thing as a movie! No way! Molten lead must be poured into their goddamned ears. They are not fucking meritorious enough to hear! Hey, how the hell can they walk in places that we walk! No way, something should be done. Break their bloody unmeritorious legs!
Hey! Why the hell should we even take all this pain? Why not just kill them all swiftly? There’s nothing wrong in doing that. We must build a giant furnace (dont use gas… use broken twigs and dead leaves as fuel. These fuckers, they are not meritorious enough to be burned by such an important fuel as gas) and we must throw them all in at once. The day this is done, this country must throw a giant party for all antireservationists! Hurray! India is free! No backward classes! No fucking OBC/SC/STs anymore! No reservations anymore! India will continue developing! Hufuckingrray!
On the other hand, the country’s polity must be ripped down. The Constitution of the Republic of India must just be thrown in the gutter. Pigs can do the rest. A new constitution must be put in place! There must be no… I mean NO fucking words like socialist, equality, fraternity, justice (darn it man! how the hell were they there for so long!!) in the Preamble and as well as the rest of the constitution. The ideal Article 1 of the constitution should be:
The words, “reservation”, “social justice”, “equality”, “fraternity” shall never ever be used throughout the future of this great country. Anybody who’s found uttering such words, especially “reservation” shall face strict punishment in the form of execution in public. If the word is used by a person from a backward class (those who have escaped the furnace), he shall be made alive and executed again.
Wait, this is just the beginning mate. All those fat assed, old, frail, irrational, intellectually bankrupt politicians must be exterminated too. And then, a law must be made that only meritorious antireservationists must man the political positions in this country. For this, a provision must be made in the constitution. No prior qualifications are required. All you have to do is get a merit certificate, signed and verified by a member of the Youth for Equality, at the local government office, built specifically for the purpose.
To become the Prime Minister, the candidate should essentially be a meritorious antireservationist, who has taken part in atleast one antireservation protest and has performed a heroic act like a self immolation bid alteast once. The same should apply to the President.
India must adopt a new motto: MERIT. A foreign person coming into India should have himself verified at the Indian Government’s Merit Verification Office in his country and should produce a merit certification, signed and verified by an officer from the Indian Merit Service (IMS).
All medicos should be admitted into medical colleges solely on the basis of merit. Ranks must be replaced with merit lists. By the way, no backward class person shall become a doctor in this country. The quality of healthcare will die if all these fucking unmeritorius people become doctors!
And so, with similar meritorious moves made, India will become a great nation, a nation for merit, by merit and of merit. Only then will India continue to develop. Long live India! Hail merit! Pee and shit on the backward classes!
By the way, I’ve been wondering how an unmeritorious person like me can ever blog! Darn it! I should leave the blogosphere lest it becomes more polluted with each passing second of my unmeritorious presence! I’ve also been wondering how an unmeritorious candidate like me, who has got admission to his engineering course through reservation ever ended up being one of the best students of his class! Beats me. I should be kicked out of the country! I’m not meritorious enough to continue even breathing the same air that meritorious people do!
Folks, a deeply saddening event occured this evening, when I made a rather astonishing discovery.
I was a little sick and didnt go to class today and yesterday. A classmate had come along to find out why.
(translated)
"Why didnt you come to the class?", he asked.
"Aaah, have a bad cold, fever and all… I'll come tomorrow anyway…"
"Dont worry. Tomorrow is a holiday."
I wondered why…
He said, "Tomorrow is a sunday no?!"
I was like "Eh?"
"Dude! It's a sunday tomorrow…"
I was so damn sure today was sunday and I checked my cellphone to see if it was…
DARN! DARN! I was thinking yesterday was saturday and today is good ol' sunday and tomorrow, I have to go back to class!
How could this happen to meeee!!! I still cant believe it. I was stunned. I was so sure yet I was wrong. Bad, really bad bad bad!
Laugh… laugh as much as you can…
This is avamaanam (humiliation)!
PS: Atleast, I'll have more time to rest tomorrow :p
According to this test, I am a Centrist.
ACCORDING TO YOUR ANSWERS,
The political description that
fits you best is…
.
CENTRIST
CENTRISTS espouse a "middle ground" regarding government
control of the economy and personal behavior. Depending on
the issue, they sometimes favor government intervention
and sometimes support individual freedom of choice.
Centrists pride themselves on keeping an open mind,
tend to oppose "political extremes," and emphasize what
they describe as "practical" solutions to problems.
The RED DOT on the Chart shows where you fit on the political map.
My orkut profile says I'm libertarian. Maybe I should change that…
Link via Onanite, whose profile says "I am gay, I have a loving partner, we have been together for 22 years. We like to be around men of all ages. I used to be a Christian, then I got better. As time goes on I mellow, of course that is how it is for everyone most of the time."
Listening to: The original version of Knockin' On Heaven's Door by Bob Dylan. Boy, am I feeling proud! :p
I have this inexplicable urge to photograph. I see so many things around worthy of photographing. Sadly, I dont have a camera. And all those goddamn Canons and Nikons are bloody expensive. I can buy the cheap ones but their quality and resolution sucks.
Sigh! Maybe I should wait for my first paycheck after all and that'll be a looong wait…
I spotted this kid yesterday working at a shop at Janpath, Delhi. It was obvious in his face he didnt like doing all that work. I enquired about his age. He was very reluctant to answer and pretended as if he hadnt heard the question. I asked again and this time, he thought it out nicely and came up with a gem: "16" He says he's 16. 16? Tell me, how 16 does this kid look?
That was a good answer because 16 is just a tad above 15, the upper limit of the child labour age criterion.
Two things are possible here, assuming he really isnt 16:
1. The kid was forced into working by his parents to augment the family's income. They "admitted" him at this shop and gave complete control to the shopkeeper, who of course can make him do all kinds of work, throw abuses at will.
2. The kid himself wanted to work because he wasnt fortunate enough to have someone to take care of his financial needs and submitted himself to the shopkeeper.
(Both cases can be true if he is 15 and above also. It brings me to the question: What about those children of age greater than 15 who are forced to work? Is it just the age or whether the labour is forced or not that is important in concluding a case as a case of child labour?)
In both cases, it is clear he was well instructed on how to respond to "how old are you?" questions from strangers. Maybe he really was 16 but the fact that he took that much time to respond made me think he was doing some quick thinking.
Whatever… this is not an uncommon sight is it? We see it almost everyday and over time, we get used to it and we're no longer moved by such sights but once in a while, when sometimes your heart takes over your brain, they do hit you, hit you hard in the face.
Alright, I've had enough of this! Now that the protests are dead and gone, it's time we perform a wholesale autopsy on this diseased group of individuals called striking doctors. The latest piece of irritating news is "AIIMS resident doctors demand dean's resignation". The grouse is that Anbumani Ramadoss has directed the AIIMS to deny "any salary for the period they were on strike since no work was done." Remember, the SC directed that the govt should not take any punitive measures on the sriking doctors, in return for halting the strike and getting back to duty. Now, tell me how the hell is it a punitive measure if you dont work and you're not paid?! No work -> no pay. Isnt that plain common sense?
Common sense, it seems, was lacking all along in their recent protests. Common sense says that for a protest to have an impact, there must be strong leadership and a clear sense of purpose. In other words, they should know what they're doing. However, they kept changing their demands, from the beginning of their protests to the end. It was clear that they had no sense of direction. Only one thing bonded them all: emotion. Pure emotion, with a thin crust of what seemed or they themselves believed as rationality, manifesting in cries for that divine quality of "merit" to be saved.
This picture appeared in India Today, page 26, May 15, 2006, with the caption "protesting medical students in Delhi". Notice the words in the red circle (my red circle).
R – Redivision; E – Evil; S – Secluded; E – Extorted; R – Rubbish; V – Vampire; A – Anti-Youth; T – Torture; I – Idiotic; O – Obnoxious; N – Nazist
Eh? Wait a minute, Extorted?! Vampire?! Idiotic?! Obnoxious?! Now, ladies and gentlemen, the biggest of them all – Nazist????! (I dont use more than one question mark/exclamatory mark usually)
Now tell me, all those who supported the "Youth For Equality", what the fuck were these guys talking about? Did they even know what they were talking about? Wait… hey, did they even know what the words "Youth", "For" and "Equality" mean? How did you support this kind of cheap behaviour?
"Doctors are equal to God"
No protesting body can be as powerful as a group of doctors. If they strike (read as 'shunning their duties while thousands wait for hours and even days to catch sight of a doctor'), the people and the government have no choice but to take serious notice. The government has to act swiftly and appease them by giving in to their demands, to hell with democratic process. The patients who wait and the government are left with no choice.
Is this not blackmail? Are they not holding their country and people to ransom? Is it not like saying "We've kidnapped your kid. Come with a sweet little crore or we'll kill him"? Is it not like putting a knife to your throat and saying "withdraw the proposal or we'll cut your throat"? Some people have actually lost their lives because doctors were on strike. See this: "Anita Krishnamurthy was eight months pregnant and in Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital when the doctors suddenly stopped treating her. The baby died, Anita became gravely ill, but the doctors said she would just have to wait with the dead baby inside her for a week or 10 days" (Antara Dev Sen, "Taking the country hostage", The Week, Page 47, June 4, 2006) So doctors are "equal to God". They can do as they wish. Their demands have to be met, no matter if an unborn foetus dies in it's mother's stomach.
Disturbing
I've seen too many strikes by medicos recently. I've seen medicos in Hyderabad frequently striking for even the silliest of reasons, I mean reasons which can be sorted out by discussion (Dec 2003 strike: 1, 2; July 2005 strike: 1, 2; April 2006 strike: 1, 2) In the high profile July 2005 strike, even after they've been accused of contempt of court by the AP High Court, they continued, severely hampering health services, resulting in a few deaths also.
If this disturbing trend continues, one day, I'm sure, we'll see doctors striking about lack of toilet paper. Strike about this, strike about that. My ass. Get a life!
PS: This is only about striking medicos. Please, please dont start a reservation debate now.
Mood: Cool. Chilled beer at work :p
Listening to: "Burning for you", by the Blue Oyster Cult.
… Burn out the day
Burn out the night
I can't see no reason to put up a fight…
And I'm burning, I'm burning, I'm burning for you
I'm burning, I'm burning, I'm burning for you …
Well, there's no "you" in my life yet but I'm kind of addicted to this song. It rocks!
PS: Find it at good ol' MGIT Jukebox (you need to register but it's very easy and and free!).
It rained for a couple of days here in Delhi and that's it. No rains thereafter, not even some cool, windy "prerain" weather.
I'm used to hot weather. I grew up in a town which is similarly dry and hot but somehow cant bear the heat here. I have to admit, the weather's got the better of me. I cant sleep, cant study, cant do anything. I have an aircooler in my room but it's of no use.
If it continues to be burning hot like this, my ass will catch fire soon. Help!
"… Out of nowhere, like a crab which comes out from its hole emerges our none-other-than Himesh Bhai…"
"Currently Listening to: The barking dog outside the compound. Feeling Better. "
Check out this hilarious post!
Himesh's nasal vibrations have become so ubiquitous that they have ensconced themselves in my unconscious mind. From there, they frequently knock at the doors of my conscious, so much so that sometimes I find myself playing "… Ek baar aaja aaja aaja aaja aaaaaaja… " inside. I ask myself to shut up and kick the song back into the unconscious.
I have to admit, there's something about those vibrations. If not, then why do they etch themselves in our memories like they do, even if we dont like them?
Again, chi chi!… I'll shut up.
Ravi just opened my eyes. His cousin has just joined an IIT coaching class and guess how much she paid? Rs. 1,40,000! I almost fell off my chair. With that money, I can earn almost two engineering degrees i.e., eight years of engineering education. Well, you may have airconditioned classrooms with ergonomically tested seating, it may be the five star version of a coaching institute but still, Rs. 1,40,000?
Such an amount effectively keeps those who cant afford it out and so, an atmosphere in which you'll be surrounded only by rich students, will be created. Words like luxury, quality, modern, highend etc. come to the mind. But how good is such an education?
We have the so called international schools which charge exorbitant amounts towards fees. Education in these schools is considered "high quality". I wont contest the fact that they have excellent infrastructure and employ top quality teachers and teaching methods but I wonder what quality you can deliver to students in such an atmosphere – an atmosphere in which a student is surrounded by students from equally affluent families.
To me, quality education is helping students know the truth. My point is all during their school life, they're blinded to the realities of their poorer counterparts, who make up the majority in our country. When they come out of their school and meet them in a classroom setting after they join a professional college like say an IIT, wont they face a tough situation seeing students of all income groups around them? What kind of an education is that? Is it not impractical?
My idea of a proper school is one which puts students of all income groups in one class and educates them. In such an atmosphere, the students gel properly irrespective of their families' income and by the time they leave school, they'll learn quite well how to coexist with all kinds of people.
